BSP's Lok Sabha candidate from in Mainpuri has been issued a notice for allegedly threatening officials during an election meeting in violation of the model code of conduct.

"The notice was issued on Friday to BSP candidate Vinay Shakya who during a meeting on March 18 had allegedly threatened officers to get them transfered after the Lok Sabha polls if they do not work for him," deputy district electoral officer Ram Kewal said.

"The candidate has been asked to explain that why action for violation of poll code should not be taken against him," he added.
The notice was issued by assistant returning officer Karhal, Shiv Dayal on the directives of the district magistrate, he said.
