The election schedule in Goa would remain unchanged and polling to the two Lok Sabha constituencies of Panaji and Mormugao would be held on April 26 as announced by the Election Commission.
The decision not to change the election schedule in the state has been taken by the EC after going through a number of representations received by it from different political parties requesting to postpone the polling date, an official release said here today.
The Election Commissioner B B Tandon had told mediapersons that he had received requests from several political parties for postponing the poll date as it clashed with the feast of our lady of Milagres and the Sirigao `Jatra'.
"After going through the representations and taking into account all material facts and circumstances of the matter, the EC has decided not to postpone the Elections in Goa," the release added.
