Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was, on Saturday, stopped by local police from visiting the family of the man who was lynched earlier this week in Uttar Pradesh’s Bisada village.

Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal was, on Saturday, stopped by local police from meeting the family of Mohammed Ikhlaq, the 50-year-old man who was lynched by a mob of over 100 people in Uttar Pradesh’s Bisada village over rumours that he had eaten beef.

Kejriwal, along with other AAP leaders Ashutosh and Sanjay Singh, was stopped outside the village, a couple of hours after clashes over the presence of media persons in the area. The local administration said they took action as many villagers were protesting against VIP movement in Bisada.

On Friday, Union culture minister Mahesh Sharma and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi had met the victim’s family, even as the incident sparked national outrage and was covered extensively by media.
