The AICC usually sends posters, handbills and other material to candidates well before polling day. This time though, candidates have had to organise material for themselves. "This material usually highlights the achievements of individual candidates in their areas, not party chief Sonia Gandhi, Congress principles or the achievements of the Sheila Dikshit government," said a senior Congress leader.

Delhi Congress chief Chaudhary Prem Singh and spokesman Jagdish Tytler confirmed no campaign material had reached candidates. "We have not got any publicity material to date," Prem Singh told HT.

Party sources said the AICC had sent the publicity material to press only on Saturday and would get them before Wednesday. "By then only a couple of days would be left for the campaign," said a candidate.
