Poll officials hold meeting with political parties in Udhampur

Expenditure observer for Udhampur parliamentary constituency Brijesh convened a meeting with all assistant expenditure observers and expenditure accounting team on Friday appointed to oversee the expenditure related to ensuing parliamentary elections in Udhampur district to discuss on issues relating to monitoring of expenditure incurred by contestants.

Expenditure observer for Udhampur parliamentary constituency Brijesh convened a meeting with all assistant expenditure observers and expenditure accounting team on Friday appointed to oversee the expenditure related to ensuing parliamentary elections in Udhampur district to discuss on issues relating to monitoring of expenditure incurred by contestants.

He asked the officers concerned to maintain shadow register of candidates by registering their day to day accounts.

He also clarified that there is `70 lakh limit for a candidate, but strict vigil has to be kept on their expenditure. He also advised the officers to maintain sincerity in discharging their duties.

He also discussed in details all works to be undertaken by AEOs and accounting team. Brijesh underlined the need for close surveillance and effective monitoring of model code of conduct guidelines to regulate expenditure by political parties. He also stressed upon the coordination between various teams constituted for expenditure observance and directed them to maintain proper record, which "would serve as an evidence".

Meanwhile, general observer Ravi Shanker J also addressed the meeting and made suggestions to representatives of political parties for smooth conduct of the elections. He also asked the participants to come forward to share their grievances and provide a worry list, if any, so that the free and fair elections could be conducted.
