An Election Commission team headed by Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi arrived on Tuesday to oversee preparations for the six-phase Bihar assembly polls to be held from Oct 21, an official said.

The EC team, on a two-day visit, left for Bhagalpur district soon after arriving to hold a meeting with officials of districts going to polls in the first four phases.
"The team will hold a meeting with district magistrates and police officials to ensure peaceful polling," the official told IANS.
The assembly polls for the 243-seat Bihar assembly are scheduled to be held in six phases from Oct 21 to Nov 20. The results are to be declared Nov 24.
