Pakistan Rangers resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling on five border outposts and some villages in Jammu district injuring four people early on Thursday, officials said.
The fresh firing comes a day after a woman was killed in the ceasefire violations prompting India to lodge a protest with Pakistan and ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Jammu on Friday.
On the other hand, Pakistan on Thursday summoned the Indian high commissioner in Islamabad to register its protest over alleged airspace intrusion by an Indian spy drone.
Pakistan had said on Wednesday that an "Indian spy drone" was shot down by the army along the Line of Control in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The Pakistani army had claimed that the drone was being used for aerial photography and was "brought down for violation of Pakistan's territorial integrity".
India denied the claim, saying no such drone crashed or was shot down.
These incidents have come days after the prime ministers of the two countries met on the sidelines of a summit in the Russian city of Ufa in an effort to ease tensions.
