"The polling began on a slower pace but is likely to pick up later in the day", State election office sources said in Mumbai.

The by-poll for this seat from the Marathwada region has been necessitated following the demise of BJP MLA Vitthal Sakpal.

NCP has fielded Chandrakant Danave, the son of former MP Pundalikrao Danave, who recently defected from BJP while the BJP nominee is Shivaji Thote.
