POLLING FOR the election of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) passed off peacefully, barring some disturbance just before the end of polling.

Around 86 per cent voting was recorded to elect 23 office-bearers of the HCBA. Out of 3,715 voters, as many as 3,214 turned up to cast their votes.
According to Chief Returning Officer (CRO) Haider Hussain, the counting of votes will begin at 7.30 P.M. and the results are expected to be announced late in the night.
Though the polling started at 10 A.M, the voters turned up in large numbers after 11 A.M.
According to Haider Hussain and Returning Officers PK Singh, RK Ojha and MC Chaturvedi, some disturbance was created by one of the candidates just 10 minutes before the conclusion of polling. Thereafter, nobody turned up to cast their vote and the polling closed at 4 P.M. as announced earlier. The ballot papers were sealed in the presence of the ROs and other candidates.
The CRO and ROs have unanimously resolved to take penal action against the candidate who disturbed the polling just before its conclusion.
