UPSET OVER the poor state of water and power scenario across the city, members of various organisations staged demonstrations in different parts of the city here on Wednesday.

Activists of the Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti staged a dharna at district headquarters and flayed the central and state government for frequent powercuts and problem of low voltage in the city.
It was observed that dilapidated supply wires and transformers have adversely affected the smooth power supply. They also warned the government to lock all the power sub-stations, in case power scenario was not improved. They also expressed concern over poor water supply scenario and urged the government to install new supply pipes and renovate hand-pumps.
District general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Dr Heeralal, district secretary of Community Party of India, Vijay Kumar, Mahfooj Alam of Janata Dal (secular), Rakesh Pathak, Sanjay Bhattacharya of Forward Bloc, Nizamuddin, Ramdular and Mohd. Anees were among others who addressed the demonstration and criticised poor water and power supply in the city.
Volunteers of the Jan Kalyan Parishad (Uttar Pradesh) staged a dharna at Chaukaghat Power sub-station to protest the poor state of water and power supply in the city today. The agitated volunteers also resorted to chakka jam on busy GT Road to register their protest. State president of Parishad, Ganga Sahay Pandey, state vice-president, Dr Shahid Khan, Motilal and Rajkumar Yadav were among others who addressed the demonstration.
