Her family lawyer, Pankaj Bhardwaj on Saturday said that Ruchika’s father Subhash Chander Girhotra did not earlier question the report as “he was under pressure to save his son” from the string of false cases foisted on him.

These were done allegedly at the bidding of S.P.S. Rathore, former Haryana DGP, who was on Monday convicted of molesting the 14-year-old Ruchika, a budding tennis player

Rathore was sentenced to six months imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 1,000.

“The report very clearly mentions slimming pills as the reason behind the death. But slimming pills cannot kill,” Bharadwaj said.

“Ruchika’s father told me that accepting the report was the only way to get his son back,” he said, adding that Subhash Chander, in effect, bargained his son’s freedom.

PTI adds that Bharadwaj has also demanded “monetary help” for the family from the Haryana government.

“There cannot be any amount of monetary compensation that matters,” he said adding that instead of “compensation” he would prefer the term monetary help.

He said if the state fails to provide help, he would move the court for the same.
