From oversized glasses of red wine to pints of imported beer to tumblers of mixed drinks---- you had gulped down whatever came your way. Good way of celebration but the hangover blues throw a blanket on your revelries.

The main cause of hangover is dehydration. Alcohol is a powerful diuretic, so the most important thing before and after hangover is to drink lots of water. An electrolyte solution can also help in easing the hangover

A study made by New York University School of Medicine says that while all alcohol can cause a hangover, wine tends to cause more headache.

The darker and sweeter drinks ( rum, red wine) cause more hangover than lighter ones like beer or vodka. Coloured alcohols have small quantities of congeners which are byproducts of fermentation and distillation process. Congeners are complex organic molecules such as histamine and methyl alcohol which contribute to the hangover.

Drink water: After every alcoholic drink you have, drink water.

Eat : A small carb snack or a light dinner before going to the party

A cardio workout: This will make you sweat out all the toxins in your system. Remember, alcohol stays in your blood stream for 24 hours.

Try coffee: This can ease the headache but can cause stomach problems.

Take a shower

Beware of Asprin as it can cause damage to liver.

So, all set for partying. But restrain yourself. This could make your first morning of 2006 a sunny one.
