Post Pushkar: Tourists flocking to city

With the end of Pushkar Mela in Rajasthan, a large number of tourists from different countries are arriving in the district. Foreign tourists belonging to the USA, France, Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, Spain have been arriving in Varanasi.

With the end of Pushkar Mela in Rajasthan, a large number of tourists from different countries are arriving in the district.

Foreign tourists belonging to the USA, France, Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, Spain have been arriving in Varanasi.

Accommodation places including hotels, guesthouses, lodges etc are flooded with the foreign tourists. Around 5000 foreign tourists have visited Varanasi from November 5 till date.

Prominent sites, such as Sarnath, Ganga Ghats and Ramnagar Palace besides many more are witnessing heavy rush. One could witness the foreign tourists enjoying boating for hours on the Ganga.

President of the government-approved Tourist Guide Association (GATGA) Ajay Singh told the Hindustan Times on Saturday that around 3000 French tourists have arrived in the city in November. “Seven to eight groups of French tourists have been arriving daily on a regular basis,” Ajay Singh said.

Singh said besides French tourists, foreign visitors from the USA have also been arriving. “Three to four different groups of tourists from the States arrive here daily,” he said and added that the inflow of foreigners would continue till November 20.
