Power cut, leakage cripple water supply

WATER SUPPLY was adversely affected today in several areas of the City following the power shut down at Shyamla Hills filtration plant for electricity maintenance and two leakages in the Kolar pipeline near Habibganj railway crossing. The water crisis is likely to continue in these areas on Wednesday as well.

WATER SUPPLY was adversely affected today in several areas of the City following the power shut down at Shyamla Hills filtration plant for electricity maintenance and two leakages in the Kolar pipeline near Habibganj railway crossing. The water crisis is likely to continue in these areas on Wednesday as well.

About half of the City faced severe water crisis today following the leakages and power shut down from 8 am to 3 pm at Shyamla Hills filtration plant. The MP State Electricity Board carried out maintenance work in this area.

The areas hit by power shut down included Professors’ Colony, Ginnauri, North TT Nagar, Banganga, Imami Gate, Chowk, Noor Mahal, Somawara, Mangalwara, Itwara, Chowki Imamibarha, Lakherapura, Azad Market, Ghoda Nakkas, Fatehgarh etc.

Besides, there were also two leakages in 900-mm diameter Kolar pipeline near Habibganj railway crossing. Assistant Engineer (Kolar), R B Rai, informed that the leakage was reported at 9.30 am and the repair work was started within half an hour. It was completed by 6 pm. Water supply was started through this line from 8 pm, he added.
