Almost all the areas of southern parts of the city including Gujaini, Ambedkar Nagar, Baba Nagar, Barra-8, Ratan Lal Nagar, Awas Vikas, Basant Vihar, Hanumant Vihar, Babupurwa, Damodar Nagar, Hanspuram, Naubasta and Karahi are reeling under acute power crisis.

These areas are hardly getting power supply for five hours and that too irregular. Vice-president of the District and Kanpur Dehat Congress and PCC member Raghubeer Singh Bhadauria along with other senior members of the Congress handed over a memorandum to KESCo MD Sudhir Garg.

Congress leaders expressed their resentment over five hours of power supply to southern parts of the city. Allegations of partisan attitude towards power crisis in south city were also levelled on KESCo officials by members of the delegation.
Congress leaders also expressed their resentment over continuous power supply to those areas of the south, which have a presence of large number of factories.

“On one hand residential areas of the south are going without power for prolonged hours. While on the other hand industrial areas are getting regular power supply,” Bhadauria stated.

Members of the delegation requested the KESCo MD to look into the matter and carry out an impartial inquiry so that action against the guilty could be taken.

Congress leaders also threaten to stage a demonstration if the power supply of the south areas of the city did not improve.

However, power supply of northern areas of the city is equally worse. Night rostering starts at 2 a.m. and continues up to 6 a.m. Then again power supply of the entire city is snapped at 8 a.m. and is restored at 2.30 in the afternoon.

While in some areas it is restored at 4 in the evening. Apart from this faults at the level of substations also disrupt the power supply in the evening.
