A powerful IED planted by militants was detected by police in an open field near the railway track in Anantnag district, averting a possible tragedy.The IED, weighing 25 kgs, was planted by militants in the open field near the railway track at Bijbehara, 45 kms from here, and was detected by policemen last night, police said on Wednesday.

They said the device was neutralised before it could cause any harm.Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency is slated to go to polls on April 30.
