Praful Patel plans grand wedding for daughter
Prominent personalities from politics, Bollywood and business circles are attending the function, reports Ketaki Ghoge.
It is going to be one of the most high profile weddings Mumbai has seen.
Wedding of Avni, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel's daughter, on Saturday will be a grand event with prominent personalities from politics, Bollywood and business circles attending the function.
Avni, an architect, is tying the knot with Prashant, a corporate lawyer, son of Karnataka Congress leader RV Deshpande on Saturday.
The wedding will take place in the morning at Crystal Room of the Taj hotel while a grand reception will be hosted by the Patels at the Royal Western Indian Turf Club, Mahalaxmi, said family sources.
Both the Patel and Deshpande families have planned five receptions in a row in Mumbai, Bangalore, Haliyal (assembly constituency of Deshpande), Patel's hometown Gondia and the last one is at New Delhi between November 5 and December 4.
On Friday, the sangeet (function on the pervious evening of the wedding) was organised at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Santacruz where Bollywood musician Himesh Reshmiya performed. It was attended by several high profile guests including Boeing senior vice president Dinesh Keskar. A film on Avni was also shown to the guest.
The Saturday's guest list includes prominent people from the world of business, politics and the Bollywood. The invitees include Amitabh and his son Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, industrialists LN Mittal, Mukesh and Anil Ambani, Vijay Mallya, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Bihar Governor RS Gavai, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
For the reception, the decoration is being prepared by entertainment company Wizcraft. The theme for decoration of the stage (where the bridegroom will meet the guests) and the gates is crystal peacock.
The food at the reception will be strictly vegetarian fare and will be served by Thackers, Blue Sea and Copper Chimney.
For the reception, Avni will be wearing a traditional chaniya choli designed by fashion designer Manish Malhotra.
