Mukherjee will meet President Iajuddin Ahmed and extend the invitation on behalf of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The invitation will be open to whosoever Bangladesh government wants to send to represent the country at the 14th Summit as a caretaker administration led by Fakhruddin Ahmed is in power there.

Bangladesh has been witnessing political unrest in the midst of which the president imposed a state of emergency last month and cancelled general elections scheduled for January 22.

Mukherjee is also likely to meet chief adviser to the caretaker government Fakhruddin Ahmed and former prime ministers Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia during his day-long visit.

Bangladesh, the current Chair of SAARC, is the last of the eight countries to be visited by Mukherjee to extend invitation for the Summit.
