Prêt is the new couture, according to Rajesh Pratap Singh and his collection at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week confirmed as much.
Unique shapes and so-called boring and jaded colours completed the Delhi-based designer’s show that saw a packed house of special guests, designers and buyers.
Shades of grays, soothing greens, blacks and some metallic tints of electrifying blues, blood reds, glittering gold and mustard formed the colour sequence.
Spotted on the ramp were snake print short skirts, jackets and even calf length coats and straight fit pants. One could see the use of frills on the well-structured jackets and tube tops.
Though watering down the air filled dresses and tops can make the creations much better and wearable.
Next on ramp were pleated skirts and also dresses that had pleats on the down side.
Turtlenecks in half sleeve t-shirts and velvet round neck dresses looked glamorous.
Most of Rajesh's line was in black, whites and grays and the detailing on the creations was rich.
The belted trench coats, especially, in velvet, wool-silk, looked well off.
His creations have a classy fit and are meant for the urban woman. Perhaps the most striking part of the entire collection was that it was extremely wearable.
Each garment, be it the linen and leather pants or tube and velvet dresses or even the long jackets can be worn by anyone who has a sense of style and loads of money to spare.
TV actor Rohit Roy, who was one of the guests at the show, chips in his thoughts: "I think his clothes are very cool and ready-to-wear. If I was a girl, I would have definitely picked up some.”
