• President Musharraf's visit to Kohlu region on December 14 to lay the foundation stone of one of military cantonments — something that the Balochis fiercely oppose - was welcomed by 14 rocket attacks.

• The very next day an army helicopter that was carrying the Inspector General, Frontier Corps, Major General Shujaat Zamir Dar, and his deputy Brigadier Saleem Nawaz, was attacked by a machine gun.

• Early this year, they had targeted natural gas installations in Sui town providing gas to all of Pakistan as well as other government buildings, including railway tracks in Balochistan.

• In Islamabad on January 2, opposition leaders staged a protest against the ongoing military operation in the province.

The opposition leaders carried banners and placards and shouted different slogans such as 'stop state terrorism in Balochistan', 'say no to military rule', 'go Musharraf go'.
