The reception, hosted by India's High Commissioner to UK Nalin Surie at the London Marriott Hotel, signifies the important role that the over two million-strong diaspora plays in providing a bridge between Britain and India in various sectors including trade, National Health Service, IT and educational institutions.

There are as many as 20 Indian-origin Members in the House of Lords, six MPs in the House of Commons and over 100 Councillors in various Buroughs, playing a significant role, a senior official of the Indian House told newsmen in London.

Besides them, members of the various Friends of India political groups, eminent academicians, social scientists, writers, artists and those associated with charities such as the Hinduja Foundation, the Loomba Trust and the Princes Trust are also invited for the reception.
