It’s not just about putting your best foot forward. On Dandiya night, it’s also about looking your best. Guess that’s what is driving men in the Capital to what, so far, was a women’s stronghold. With pigmentation packages, facials, pedicures, manicures, chin and chest hair removal, mesotherapy (a body sculpting procedure), hair rebonding and body wraps — the nine days of Navratra are actually bringing out the metrosexual side of Indian men, along with the spiritual one.

Dr Nitish Thaman, 22, blew up Rs 25,000 on a chin job and a glow pack, only to attend the Dandiya night at Ansal Plaza. “I don’t mind the money, but I want to look my best at the Dandiya,” says Thaman. Shival Mehra and his friends opted for a treatment package that included “manicure, pedicure, facial and chest waxing”.

Says Dr Seema Malik, MD, Eleganza, “There are more boys coming in before the Navratras. While most go for mesotherapy and instant glow packages, some also opt for chest hair removal. They feel chest hair peeping out from kurtas lowers their chances of finding a partner.”

Simi Ghai, beauty expert, Xpressions, informs that she has 16-year-olds coming to her for treatments. “That’s because on Dandiya nights they get to meet so many girls.”
