The accused sent to police custody are Lakdawala, Vivek Kolekar and Arun Kamble.

The fourth accused, Manohar Jadhav, was sent to police custody till January 16 on Thursday. The four were summoned to the police station for enquiry.

Bhadante Sanghraj Thairo (75) was found hanging at his home in Buddha Vihar in suburban Deonar on Sunday. Alleging foul play, protestors took to the streets destroying public and private property in different pockets of the city for two days.

The Buddha Vihar is located on a piece of prime land opposite the Deonar abattoir and was being developed by Lakdawala builders into a multi-storeyed structure. Over 100 shanties were demolished to make the way for the building but the Vihar priests were reportdely refusing to relocate.

Colleagues of Thairo suspected foul play due to the opposition to the redevelopment and filed a case of murder naming the four as suspects.
