A DELEGATION of supporters of OBC reservation met Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh in New Delhi under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Arakshan Bachao Morcha and handed over a memorandum promising all support to him on the issue on Thursday.

This was informed by the Allahabad University Union (AUU) president Ajeet Yadav on Friday.
Convenor of the Morcha Dr Shrinarayan Singh Yadav, who was with Kuldeep and others as part of the delegation, praised the minister for his “courageous stand” and assured him that the supporters of quota were ready to fight alongside him over the matter at the national level.
The minister is believed to have informed the delegation members that he would make his stand public only after the assembly elections going on in various states concluded and the Election Commission’s bindings expired.
Meanwhile, supporters of the reservation in the private sector, led by AUU student leader Savindra Kumar Yadav, burnt the effigies of industry captains who recently opposed the reservation being extended to the private sector on Friday.
The students alleged that some well-established capitalists did not want the members of the backward community to progress and pledged to oppose all efforts to resist the reservation extension. Some members of the Morcha supporting the reservation, led by Ramesh Verma, announced on Friday that one of the members of the Morcha, Amar Singh Yadav, would immolate himself before the AU Vice-Chancellor’s office at 12 pm on May 1.
