In a letter to the UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC), parishad president, Avadhesh Kumar Verma said that in its earlier complaint to the Commission, he had pointed out that the rates of tenders awarded by the UPPCL were much higher than the RESPO rates. He said though the Commission had asked the UPPCL/discoms to submit the electrification programme to it, in all probability only one discom had so far submitted some tender details.

He said it was unlikely that any discom or the UPPCL would ever give all the facts to the Commission. It was, therefore, necessary in the larger public interest for the Commission to forward the matter to the State Government, recommending a CBI/vigilance/CAG probe in the entire matter.
