Probe ordered into Doda bus mishap

Two days after 13 people were killed in a bus mishap in Doda, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday ordered a probe into the incident and suspended three traffic policemen.

Two days after 13 people were killed in a bus mishap in Doda, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday ordered a probe into the incident and suspended three traffic policemen.

"On the direction of the government, we have ordered a probe to find out why there was a failure in strictly implementing traffic rules and regulations," senior traffic officials said.

"We have also fixed responsibility and suspended three cops, including an officer," they said. The suspended police officials were identified as traffic supervising officer sub inspector Bhopinder Singh and constables Khurshid Ahmed and Muzafar Ahmed.

The order of probe and suspension was issued by Inspector General of Police (Traffic) S P Vaid in Jammu on Monday.

Superintendent of Police (traffic - national highway), Skati Pathak would hold an inquiry and also recommend measures for checking such mishaps in the future.

Thirteen persons were killed and 15 others injured when a bus rolled down a gorge in Thathri belt of Doda district on Saturday.
