Mishra told HT Lucknow Live after submitting his resignation to Vice-Chancellor RP Singh, he had been in office for “quite a long time” and wished to move on.
However, sources said the V-C had been unhappy with Mishra for not being able to maintain law and order on the campus. “Soon after the convocation fiasco, rumours were rife on campus that Mishra may have to quit,” said sources close to the LU V-C.

Sources also said the Proctorial team led by Mishra had also failed to pacify the agitated ABVP activists and other student leaders who had staged a demonstration and blocked traffic on University Road during the convocation.

Sources said, Mishra was blamed for not being able to tackle the situation and save the varsity from embarrassment.
