Though the SC has already appointed a panel to probe the allegations, a retired Delhi University law professor filed a complaint with the police. But after the SC order for probe, another intern alleged sexual harassment by a retired SC judge in a Facebook post on November 11.

Now Professor Shamnad Basheer, a HRD ministry chair professor of intellectual property law at NUJS, is emphatic about the need for a probe by the university, said the website Legally India, which had reported the series of allegations.

“This was committed during the course of an academic engagement and the judge was provided with research assistance by the University,“ Basheer reportedly said in a Facebook post.

He has also supported the woman’s decision not to name the judge in her blog.

Basheer also wrote over the last year, he has been privy to three instances of sexual harassment and “what the women went through”.
