It also announced to counter a Congress bandh call by holding functions to felicitate teachers in colleges on September 5.

"Though voilence broke out during student union elections at Madhav College on August 26, Teachers' Day can never be called a black day," ABVP Secretary Vishnu Dutt Sharma said.

"Congress has called for a state-wide bandh on September 5 but the Parishad has decided in a meeting on Sunday evening that all ABVP-backed student union leaders, recently elected in state colleges, will hold felicitation functions of teachers," he said.

Training guns at ruling BJP, Sharma alleged that it has buckled under the pressure of Congress and a section of media and has falsely implicated ABVP leaders for Sabharwal's death.

"Every action taken by the state government in this case has been controversial," he claimed adding while state ABVP president Shashiranjan Akela and state secretary Vimal Tomar, were booked for Sabharwal's murder, the NSUI workers attacking another professor, ML Nath, were not charged with attempt to murder.
