Talking to Hindustan Times, Dr Anil said that, “I preferred to take up civil services as I realised that I could give more to nation as an administrator than an engineer. Though there is a system constraint and it was not possible for a single person to change the whole scenario overnight, but if like minded people with technical and other professional backgrounds join civil services, we can expect remarkable change in the country’s progress.”

He said the training of the IIT was so effective that a student after completing studies at the Institute can venture to take up any profession with success.
Dr Anil, who is also the National Coordinator of the Alumni 1981 class feels that civil servants with technical background could prove to be very good administrators.
