THE DEATH anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed as Prohibition Resolution Day at various educational institutions of the City.

At the Sociology and Social Work Department of the Barkatullah University students and staff members took an oath not to consume or dealing in alcoholic and other addictive substances and also filled up a resolution form.
Head of Department Prof Gautam Gyanendra, programme coordinator of National Service Scheme of the BU Dr Mahendra Giri, programme officer of NSS Dr Shashank Shekhar Thakur, Prof S N Choudhary, Dr Arvind Chauhan, Dr Kumaresh Kashyap, Dr Ruchi Ghosh, Dr Anita Dhurve and several students were present.
At the outset the head of department and teachers garlanded portrait of father of nation. Speaking on occasion, Prof Gautam said that at present time when moral values were on the decline, the only way out was to follow the path shown by Gandhiji.
Dr Mahendra Giri also spoke. Students presented songs including ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ and also staged a drama `Chaar Kaath key Gandhi’.
At the Government Benazir College for Science and Commerce too the day was observed as prohibition resolution day with the staff members and students filling up the resolution letter and taking oath under the guidance of principal Dr Shobhana Bajpai Maroo.
Earlier, bust of Mahatma Gandhi was garlanded and students presented group devotional songs. Later, the staff members and students reached Aasra shelter for senior citizens and distributed fruits and sweets and shared some time with the inmates.

{{/usCountry}}The Shanti Niketan Mahila Kalyan Samiti organised an awareness camp at village Damakheda where the members of the organisation went door to door to get the villagers to fill up the prohibition resolution letter and administer them oath of de-addiction.
Dr Preetesh Jaimini, Ranvijay Pratap Singh, Manoj Saxena, Jaikishore Sharma and others participated in the programme.
At the Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism, death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Makhanlal Chaturvedi were observed.
Essayist and art critic Narmada Prasad Upadhayay was the chief guest while director of Nirala Srijan Peeth Prof Rameshwar Mishra Pankaj presided.
Director general of the university Achyutanand Mishra and Maheshdutt Mishra were also present. Speaking on occasion, Upadhyay said that Makhanlal Chaturvedi was true follower of Mahatma Gandhi and he kept the flame of revolution burning till the country gained freedom.
The programme started with vocal presentation by Umesh-Dharmesh who sung favourite devotional songs of Mahatma. A book ‘Ek Bharatiya Aatma’ edited by Vijay Dutt Shreedhar was released on the occasion.
The programme was conducted by Vivek Mridul while registrar Anil Choubey proposed vote of thanks.
