AROUND TWO-DOZEN students were arrested in Mau district on Tuesday while protesting against the murder of their leader.

It may be mentioned that the situation became tense in the riot-hit Mau when two students shot dead Ramjeet Yadav of DCSK College, on Monday.
Students groups belonging to the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party staged a demonstration against the murder and demanded immediate arrest of the assailants.
“A massive hunt has been launched against two students, Faizan and Awnesh, who have been absconding after executing the killing,” Mau district magistrate Mukesh Meshram told Hindustan Times.
He said the process had also been initiated to provide adequate compensation to family members of the slain student.
“As the town returned to normalcy after a long period of tension after riots, we have decided not to allow any situation to slip out of our hands and strict instructions have been ordered to arrest the students in case they resort to any kind of violence,” he said.
According to reports, students approached the district migstrate and offered their willingness for voluntary arrests.
