With no formal training in fashion design, Prriya Awasthy began her career in 1990 in Kolkata. Maintaining brand quality is a priority for her. She loves to play around with Silks, Crepes,
Georgettes, Chiffons, Satins, Cottons, Wovens and Linen. Not to mention mixing with colour and embellishments. Her outfits include embroidery sequences, bead work, Zari work, Zardozi, trimmings, laces, Crystals and Swarovski, crotchet, antique work, Badla work, Chikankari, hand painting and of course Kantha.
The Prriya Awasthy label is available at Kimaya, Mogra and Aza, Folio, Sansara, Kimaya, Espee, Zenon, Orja and Elahe. She exports to UK, Dubai, London, Hongkong, Singapore, USA and Kuwait. She has clients like Ameesha Patel, Rakshanda Khan, Raveena Tandon, Pooja Bedi and Tara Sharma. Her garments have a price point of prêt, but the look of diffusion.
The designer will make her debut appearance at this year's Fashion Week.
