PU to host two global meets

Reputed mathematics scholars and researchers from India and abroad will be at Patna University (PU) for the three-day 49th annual conference of Indian Econometrics Society from January 9-11. Nobel laureate Amartya Sen is also expected to attend the meet.

Reputed mathematics scholars and researchers from India and abroad will be at Patna University (PU) for the three-day 49th annual conference of Indian Econometrics Society from January 9-11. Nobel laureate Amartya Sen is also expected to attend the meet.

This will be a great opportunity for teachers, researchers and students of economics to understand the latest advances in economics and statistics. The conference will be organised at Patna Science College by the department of statistics, PU, said Prof Amarendra Mishra of the department, who is nodal officer for the conference.

Besides, PU will host another three-day national conference on recent developments in mathematics from December 22 to 24, to mark the 125th birth anniversary of math wizard, Srinivas Ramanujan. Science College principal AK Sinha said the conference will feature plenary talks, symposia, invited lectures, paper presentation as well as a poster exhibition.

“A special features will be the workshop on statistical software and bio-informatics, which has been scheduled for December 23,” he added. PU has formed different committees for he success of the conference. While PU VC Shambhu Nath Singh will be the chief patron of the organising committee, RN Das, HoD, mathematics, is the convenor with AK Sinha, principal, as chairperson and prof KC Sinha eing the organising secretary.
