Girish Vyas, son-in-law of former chief minister Manohar Joshi, may find himself in another battle over the implementation of the Supreme Court order pertaining to Sun Dew Apartment, which he had constructed after shifting the reservation.
Pune municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak said the civic body would serve a demolition notice to Vyas on Monday.
Reacting to the statement, Vyas told HT, “Let the municipal commissioner check his own office before making public statements.” Although Vyas hinted that he had submitted a proposal to the PMC to hand over the building as per the SC verdict, Pathak claimed that they had not received it within the two-week deadline.
Sources said Vyas submitted the proposal on October 25, a day before the Diwali vacation started. “We even have the acknowledgment of the letter which was submitted to the office of the municipal commissioner,” said a source close to Vyas.
The issue once again came to the focus on October 12 when the Supreme Court upheld the Bombay high court verdict declaring the shifting of reservation of a 30,000 sq ft plot on Prabhat Road as illegal.
The plot was reserved for a primary school. The court directed the PMC to send demolition notice to Vyas if he did not submit the proposal to hand over the building within two weeks.
