A notice to this effect was served upon the Punjab government, informing that the IT department was attaching the minister’s salary and other emoluments given by the state government as he had failed to deposit the tax dues.

When contacted, Langah told HT that the tax against him was “wrongly” assessed by the IT. He said this was done on a reference made by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau in connection with a disproportionate assets case lodged during the Amarinder Singh regime. “I have made an appeal before the IT Tribunal in this regard,” he added.

When Amarinder Singh was chief minister, Langah was arrested for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. He was PWD minister during the previous Parkash Singh Badal regime (1997-2002).
