Making the request while meeting with a four-member delegation led by Canadian High Commissioner Lucie Edwards, Singh said, "The data would help the state administration take stern action against such people".

Singh assured the delegation that he would take the matter up with the Ministry of Economic Affairs to urge Indian High Commissioners in countries that have a sizeable Punjabi expatriate community, to prepare a database of the Punjabi men there to deal with cases of fraudulent marriages.

Discussing other areas of cooperation, Singh said the bilateral sharing of technology, expertise in agriculture and biotechnology would benefit both the nations enormously.

Singh assured full support in the transfer technology mission between Punjab and the Canadian Governments.

Responding to Edward's request, the CM agreed to send a high-powered delegation to participate in the World AIDS Conference to be held in Canada in August 2006.
