Taking a strong exception to the style of protest followed by opposition Congress MLAs in the State Assembly on Friday, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon on Saturday cautioned the members of the House that such methods could become deterimental in ensuring safety and security of the legislators.
"Tomorrow a wrong thing can also be brought in the House and it can pose threat to security and safety of the MLAs," he said in the Assembly referring to Congress MLAs protest yesterday.
The entire opposition members, including their leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, had came with hand fans and candles in the House yesterday to protest "power crisis" in the state.
"Bringing hand fans in the Assembly is incorrect...I respect the MLAs, but tomorrow a wrong thing can be brought in the House," he stressed.
The Speaker also mooted training camps for the MLAs so that the members of the House can be made aware about rules and regulations of the Assembly.
"It is necessary for the MLAs to know about their responsibilities in the House. I am ready to arrange a training camp for all the members of the House so that they are made aware of rules and regulations of the Assembly," he said amid a positive response from all the members of the house.
The suggestion came from the Speaker after he found that MLAs were asking several supplementaries to questions and speaking up without permission of chair to put 'point of order.'
