Now the students can start the study of CA course right after class X and can prepare themselves for the tough examinations in later stage of the course.

Past chairman and nominee member of the Managing Committee of ICAI Allahabad Branch, CA Navin C Agarwal while addressing mediapersons here on Thursday said, under the revised scheme the existing Preliminary Examination (PE) -I has been replaced by Common Proficiency Test (CPT) while PE-II by Professional Competence Course (PCC).

Elucidating on the procedure, Agarwal said one can start preparations for CA after passing of class X by getting registered for CPT. Objective type questions of 200 marks with negative marking on the subjects like Accounting, Mercantile Laws, Economics, Mathematics and Statistics will be included in the CPT and the qualifying marks are 50 per cent. The CPT will be held four times in a year in the month of February, May, August and November and can appear in CPT immediately after class XII examination, said Agarwal.

Agarwal said that a student can get registered for the final examination after clearing PCC examination besides completing a course on General Management and Communication Skill (GMCS). After passing final examination and completing course on GMCS, student can become the member of ICAI.
