However, a few entrepreneurs who launched a host of innovative initiatives are getting good response from the public and are on expansion mode.

First to come were the bright red Radio Tuk Tuks. Quick to follow were Autocall autos, DLF Cybercity shuttle service and ‘Soleckshaws’ (solar-powered, battery-operated rickshaws).

And now, the city is set to have the Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon (RMG), a R1000-crore initiative by IL&FS and DLF.

The DLF Cybercity Shuttle service that took off in January with a few hundred customers, now ferries more than 2,000 executives between DLF Cybercity and Guru Dronacharya Metro station.

“We are expanding rapidly. We started with 5 buses in Cybercity and following its success, we are going to launch a similar service with 5 buses for executives in Udyog Vihar,” said Subinder Khurana of Cybercity Welfare Society, as associate of NASSCOM.

On the other hand, Radio Tuk Tuk, an auto service that used to operate for a limited time earlier, now operates for 24 hours. With 50 autorickshaws at its disposal in the beginning, the service is soon going to add 50 more.

Sumit Choudhary of Cho udhary Motors that had supplied 50 TVS King autos for Radio Tuk Tuk service and 30 for Autocall said that the latter was also likely to expand its fleet by 20-30 three-wheelers.
