Despite the announcement of the city bus service and POD cabs, it is unlikely that these will ply on the city roads in the near future.

Recently, the DLF City Resident Welfare Association introduced its own independent shuttle service to help residents reach main shopping areas of the city. The buses will now be available on all weekends and national holidays on specific routes.

These shuttles have been launched on a pilot basis known as “Smart Ride.”

Discussing the issue, Sudhir Kapoor, secretary general, DLF City Resident Welfare Association, said, “Commuting in the neighbourhood areas, particularly to the commercial shopping areas, has always been a problem in the absence of public transport system. Residents have no other option than to travel by personal cars or autos.”

He further said, “The initiative has been taken to facilitate safer and a more comfortable journey.”

It is a common sight to see multi-coloured autos introduced by various private players on the city roads.

Tuk-Tuk autos and Auto Call blue autos are just a call away too.

Moreover, battery-operated rickshaws Solekshaws, Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon (RMG) and cab service by private players have provided much-needed respite to city residents.
