Close on the heels of the Delhi government's order, Haryana had also extended the vacation till July 8 from July 2.

"Our schools are well-equipped to deal with any weather condition. We cannot afford to shut down schools for long on this ground. Moreover, we have extended holidays for primary classes. Senior secondary classes have been going on for the last two days with 100% attendance," said the president of Haryana Progressive Schools Conference.

He added that he would meet the education minister and secretary to discuss the matter.

Manoj Kaushik, district education officer, said, "Only one school was found working today. We have sent the report to our head office for action."
