BHARATIYA JANSHAKTI president Uma Bharti claimed her decision to quit as Chief Minister was her ‘life’s biggest mistake’ and was influenced by senior BJP leaders, including L K Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

“It (resigning as Chief Minister) was the biggest mistake of my life. I was influenced by Advaniji and Vajpayeeji,” Bharti said at a public meeting here on Thursday.

Demanding that Tikamgarh district be declared as drought affected, the fiery sanyasin alleged large-scale corruption in the execution of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and threatened to lodge a complaint with the Prime Minister about it.

Accusing the BJP Government in Madhya Pradesh of neglecting development in Bundelkhand, she alleged that special schemes were being announced and allocations made for the area in view of the Bada Malhara Assembly by-polls, a constituency that she vacated.
