A day after most exit polls predicted 3-7 seats for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), party leader Kumar Vishwas on Tuesday conceded that they made some “wrong decisions”.

“We made some wrong decisions, and could not put our message across to the people,” he told a news agency.

Quitting the government in Delhi was one of the decisions that the AAP leader, who is contesting against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, referred to while counting party’s mistakes.

The exit polls that came out after completion of polling on Monday evening punctured AAP’s expectations of winning more than 20 seats.

ABP-Nielsen gave the party five seats, CNN IBN-CSDS three-seven seats, Today’s Chanakya six seats, and India Today-C Voter gave the fledgling outfit five seats.

A section of the party leadership also feels that quitting government in Delhi in a haste will have a bearing on the Lok Sabha elections results.

Earlier, AAP chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal admitted that the decision was made in a hurry. He had also said that the party failed to convince people as to why it resigned from the government in just 49 days.

On the BJP fielding a “strong candidate” in Smriti Irani from Amethi, Vishwas alleged that the saffron party fielded the former TV actor to cut votes and help the Congress vice-president win.

“Modiji, like a true friend of Ahmed Patel, saw Rahul losing and came out in support,” he said.
