MEMBERS OF Youth For Equality (Y4E) at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College have found a novel way to express their resentment against the government’s quota politics.

On World Doctors’ Day on Saturday, nearly 60 medicos under the banner of Y4E will emulate the Japanese way of protest. During a strike Japanese workers enhance productivity. Similarly, the medicos will organise a blood donation camp on the medical college premises. Moreover, they will also organise a free health check-up camp in the suburbs of the city.
This is being done to send across the message that there are various other ways to express dissatisfaction with government policies.Medicos under Y4E have decided that after donating blood on medical college premises on Saturday, Y4E members will visit different localities in the city like Naubasta and Khewra and check the health of people there. It is worth mentioning that a few days back, when medicos were observing a one-hour protest in GSVM Medical College, the administration had warned them to call off their luncheon meeting from 1 pm to 2 pm.
The college administration had put up the Supreme Court directives before students and fearing for their career, the students had decided to postpone their meeting at Ganeshian Square in the medical college.
A member of Y4E told Hindustan Times, “We do honour the Supreme Court but simultaneously we want to make it clear to persons concerned that we are opposed to any kind of reservation in higher institutions.” The member said, “We will emulate the Japanese way of protest, who during strike increase the production. Similarly, by checking people in far-flung areas on Doctors Day we will send across the message that doctors are not averse to work but yes, we deplore quota politics.”
