"The students of IIT Kanpur and GSVM medical college have faxed a letter to Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi. We have sought time from her to inform her how the implementation of reservation policy would affect higher education", Chandrasekhar, state representative of 'Youth for Equality' which is spearheading anti-quota protests, told reporters in Kanpur.

Gandhi is arriving in Kanpur on Tuesday to address a rally.

Accusing the district administration of 'cruching' the moral rights of students by taking them into custody while they were organising a human chain, Chandrasekhar said the matter would be brought into Gandhi's notice.

The organisation will also file a writ petition in the High Court against the local administration in this regard, he said.
