In a meeting at the civic headquarters on Tuesday, representatives of Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) said the turf club had decided to consider the plan.

Last week, the traffic police department had a proposes

to construct a 1.5-km elevated road to ease the traffic, expected out of the Bandra-Worli sealink, from the junction of Dr Annie Besant and Hornby Vallard Road at Worli to Haines Road near Mahalaxmi station.

“RWITC has agreed to consider the elevated road proposal. The BMC will also examine whether it would be feasible [to do this] on its own,” said sources from the BMC.

Vivek Jain, chairman of the media and marketing committee, RWITC said, “We are willing to look at the proposal after getting the report. If it is feasible, we will consider it.”

The BMC has also asked RWITC to keep more open space for cycling track and walking track for the disabled. It also wants the racecourse open for a longer time.
