CONGRESS MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi was given a rousing reception by the people while campaigning in Sadar Assembly segment on Friday. He was accompanied with former union minister Capt Satish Sharma, Manoj Mattoo and former zila parishad chairman RP Singh.
People in large number including women came out of their houses to receive Rahul Bhaiyya.
They stood in long queues by the roadside to welcome him. Capt Satish Sharma himself drove the car of Rahul.
At every contact point, Rahul asked the booth coordinators the position of Congress in the last election and how were they going to increase the poll percentage for the party this time. He reminded the people of his family’s five-generation relations with this constituency beginning with his great grandfather, Jawahr Lal Nehru. He said, “I am not only the Amethi MP. I am also your MP as far as development and service for Rae Bareli is concerned.”
The people responded warmly to such sentiments with slogans of Rahul Gandhi Zindabad, Sonia Gandhi Zindabad. Sonia Tum Sangarsh Karo Hum Tumhare Saath Hein, etc.
At Pahare Mau village a band party and horses awaited him. At Amaon, Mewalal a local vendor presented two cucumbers to Rahul that he willingly accepted.

Former Congress MLA Ramesh Chandra Shukla also joined Rahul Gandhi’s convoy today.
