Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi visited the family members of the slain party leader Pradeep Tyagi on Monday. Pradeep Tyagi, an All India Congress Committee member, was shot dead by three men at his residence in Rajnagar on December 11.
Gandhi remained with the family for over 25 minutes and heard their grievances. On Sunday, BJP national president Rajnath Singh had met the family and demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.
Anuradha Tyagi, the slain leader's wife, handed over a letter to Gandhi and requested him for a CBI inquiry into the case stating the police investigations and theories remained unconvincing. In her letter, she has demanded security for the family members and alleged that the police have not sought her help in the matter as she has seen the culprits.
Kunal, Tyagi’s son, said, “We want a transparent disclosure by the police and the culprits will have to be verified by the family members. We never had any sort of enmity with Bhagmal Tyagi’s family. If they had any, it is up to them. My father helped him get a councillor’s ticket in a municipal election.”
A day after the death of the Congress leader, the police had picked up Yogesh Tyagi for interrogations, but he allegedly died in police custody.

{{/usCountry}}Yogesh was the brother of Bhagmal Tyagi, who is presently lodged in Dasna Jail and is believed to have hatched the conspiracy to kill the Congress leader.
SSP L. Ravi Kumar suspended seven policemen, including two station officers, after Yogesh Tyagi's death. A case under section 302 (murder) was also lodged against them on December 14 in connection with the alleged custodial death.
However, they have not been arrested so far.
"They will be chargesheeted only on the basis of the post mortem report and the doctor's opinion. As of now, they will not be arrested," the SSP said.
As per SSP, the police have applied for the transit remand of Bhagmal Tyagi from Dasna jail and have also provided two armed constables to the family for their security.
