Sources said the CBI sleuths, on Friday, reached Ghazipur and took details about the murder of the MLA in Ghazipur. Sources said the CBI submitted an application before the Ghazipur court dealing with this case seeking relevant documents related to the murder.

“On Saturday, the CBI officials were provided relevant documents like copies of FIR and the charge sheet submitted by the STF investigating the case,” sources said.

The CBI would register a case in New Delhi and subsequently probe the high profile murder as directed by the HC. It may be mentioned Krishnanand Rai and his six aides were brutally killed in a village under Bavarkol police station in district Ghazipur on November 29, 2005.

The Opposition parties had been holding the Samajwadi Party leaders responsible for the murder. Moreover, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had also categorically refused to order a Central Bureau of Invetigation inquiry into the case.

Even as the State Government’s advocate general had announced the government’s decision to challenge the High court order in the Supreme Court, the CBI sleuths have gone ahead and started complying with the Allahabad High Court decision.
